Importance Of A Heart Defibulator

By Fifi Thomas

In recent decades, the number of people suffering from heart diseases has soared. This has been attributed to the poor lifestyle choices being made that have resulted in less physical activity and a higher intake of unhealthy foodstuffs. This has resulted in dangerous situations such has high cholesterol and constricted blood vessels. To help aid in the treatment of sufferers, researchers developed a device called the heart defibulator.

This device has become just as increasingly needed in the medical field as it has helped in restoring the correct heart rhythm when it becomes irregular or too fast. The disruption in the number of beats of the heart can lead to cardiac arrest and eventual death if medical intervention does not take place. Thankfully, through the quick and correct application of this simple to use device, a person's heartbeat can be quickly restored.

For people who have not had to encounter the device in real world use, they have surely seen it on television. It is often featured during medical shows as vital life saving equipment. It is often shown as a large machine that is wheeled into the room. The device is charged to a certain voltage and pads are applied to the chest area that is then shocked.

Outside of hospitals, the device can be found in much smaller sizes. They can be found in compact sizes that that can be easily carried around by one person. Their appearance is similar to what first aid boxes look like. They can be found in smaller medical establishments like private clinics and nurses' offices.

Due to the relatively small size of the defibrillator, these devices have gained popularity in use in places where many people gather together such as hotels and social halls. Their use however requires some advanced first aid training in defibrillation. This is because the device delivers a shock straight to the organ, making it dangerous when placed in inexperienced hands.

With this in mind, it is important that any building that houses such a device should have someone trained in how to properly use it along with other first aid procedures. Not all countries have training programs for this function. Given the large number of people at risk however, it should be made a matter of public policy to make this a priority.

Aside from the variety used in hospitals and the smaller compact sized versions, there is another type of heart defibulator. Each is very small and requires heart defibrillator surgery to be implanted below the skin on the chest. The heart defibrillator implant is at times confused with a pacemaker. In reality they differ as the pacemaker constantly controls the heartbeat while the other only takes action when the rate falls out of normal range.

Research info on defibulator devices has shown that their timely application on patients suffering cardiac arrest has lead to a significant increase in the number of lives saved. The results have been more positive than when sufferers swallow their medication during an emergency. With this in mind, it is advisable for more communities to take advantage of the reduced cost, and smaller conveniently sized devices, to help ensure more people are treated in time, at whatever location they are at.
